Statuatory provisions dealing with misrepresentations and false warranties did not exist in Illinois prior to the enactment of Section 154 of the Illinois Insurance Code. of 1937. A considerable number of other states had, in recent years, already adopted similar legislation, some of which, however, was limited to health and accident insurance, to life insurance, or to group life insurance. The Illinois legislature enacted a statute covering all types of insurance--a desirable deviation. The need for protecting the insured in this matter is not confined to
the field of insurance of the person.
